I’ve given it about a month now to really let people process Avenger’s Endgame and to avoid spoiling it for people. I will be doing a few posts regarding Avenger’s Endgame. First I want to address that there will be spoilers in this post if you still haven’t seen the movie and have managed to dodge any spoilers, you are fairly warned now.

This movie hit me hard from the first 5 minutes.  The thought that my family just disappearing in front of my eyes, and being left alone horrifies me. Way to go Marvel for making Dad’s across the world cry the first 5 minutes of an action-packed superhero movie. I mean I thought that Infinity War hit me hard with Spidey saying “I don’t feel so good”

As a longtime comic fanboy and seeing every Marvel movie in theaters since day one, this movie and journey have been a long and bumpy journey all leading up to this one moment. Cue up the Phil Collins drums, as I have been waiting for this moment all my life….well not all my life, but it has been anticipated for a very long while.

The Tooth Will Set You Free: A Little Bit Of Wisdom

A little over a week ago, I went in for oral surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed. This was long overdue.  I was forewarned, that because I’m in my 30’s that recovery was going to be a little hard. They drilled that statement so many times, that I was starting to feel brittle and old.  Anyways, sometimes I’m a little stubborn when it comes to things like this and should have just down it a decade ago. There were no complications,  I went in on a Friday, got home, rested and ate a butt load on pudding and jello. Everything seemed to be fine. Saturday comes along and I was up, out and about doing things.

Sunday I went to church even though I had planned on being out, then went

and celebrated mother’s day by taking my wife out to eat Mexican and

throwing axes, as we had a kid-free weekend.

It was my intentions to get back to work Monday and continue on with life like normal.

I’ve heard a speaker who has traveled to Missouri once mention that on the long stretch of Missouri highway, there are a lot of cornfields,  a lot of firework stores and a lot of porn shops. This really changes the meaning of our state’s motto the “show me state right?” I was recently on a small road trip with my family heading west to Kansas City, and you know what? There are a lot of cornfields, firework stores, and porn shops. Billboard after billboard promised of exotic fun, pleasure, and passion. One billboard sign that really got me was for a store called the Lion’s Den. I started to wonder how it got its name. If you really think about it, this name doesn’t make any sense. This week is Holy Week, and this marks the cornerstone of the Christian Faith. The events that took place a couple thousand years ago, changed the faith of the Jewish culture and changed the world. This is a big deal! I will say one of the biggest events that I think a lot of people overlook is the tomb being empty.

I’ve been working on a youth lesson for Easter about the importance of the tomb being empty. Empty….is good….. is proof….is powerful….is permanent! I’m excited! I’ve had this other idea in my head for some time now, but I think it that might go over teenagers heads, but a few weeks back I caught myself singing along to We Build This City on Rock and Roll by Starship and thinking to myself that if you just change two words in the title you have your self a good Sermon title. So here we are with “We Built This City on a Rock That Rolled”

Anyone Can Wear the Mask: Our Calling as Followers of Christ

It’s an exciting time to be alive if you are a comic book fan, more so if you are a Spider-Man fan! within the past two years, we have seen Tom Hollard’s Spider-Man recruited to team Iron Man, and fight against team Cap, then we saw Peter in high school trying to navigate his superpowered life and learn what it means to wear the suit, and then the heartbreaking “I don’t feel so good” line as Peter becomes dust in the wind in Avengers: Infinity Wars.

Here in the next few months, we see Spidey in Avengers: Endgame return, and then Spidey goes on a vacation to Europe and goes toe to toe with Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. In my opinion, all these movies have some really good life lessons to draw from, and I can go on forever about other forms of Spiderman media, but in this post, I want to focus on the awesome gem Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and how it reflects our calling as believers and followers in Christ
